Evangelical/born-again Christians: if I was saved in my childhood at an evangelical Lutheran church, and was totally sincere about accepting Jesus into my heart, but didn't grasp the significance of being "born again", because I'd been raised Catholic, where do I stand as far as salvation?

I attend a pentecostal church, my pastor would baptise you and it wouldn't matter if you are a different denomination. You can be baptised again as this time it is your choice as an adult and that is what you want in your heart. Jesus is the church's foundation and corner stone no matter which Christian church you attend.

When you accepted Jesus, you became a new creation in Him. The old self has passed. We die to our old identity and take a new identity with Jesus as our Saviour. Don't look back as this is not who you are today. The enemy will want to keep you looking into the past which keeps you from being an influence in the present. Don't spend any more time on that. Christian Mum here to teenage kids. You are not a bad person and l can see that you care for them both. I would suggest to your friend to wait especially if she has any reservation. Some boys and girls at 16 quite frankly are driven by hormones. The act of sex is more than physical, it is spiritual too. There is a part of her she will essentially be giving away, which in hindsight may be regrettable especially if they do not last as a couple in the long run. Having sex can change a friendship especially if both are not mature enough to cope after the act. The other thing is, do they love each other and see a future together? What about unwanted pregnancy? If any doubt at all encourage her to wait and if John does really care for her, he will respect her decision.

It can be confronting and l'm sorry what was witnessed scared you. I became a Christian 22 years ago, l hadn't grown up a Christian, did not know the bible. I went to listen to an evangelist speaker and gave my life to Jesus. I was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, released and healed of my sins and started to pray in tounges. Bare in mind this was all very new to me but l knew l needed Jesus in my life and willing to follow Him. In the months and years l have been walking with Him, l studied the word and learnt indeed all that has been written in the bible is true. There have been times in my life where l have woken up at night or concerned ( not at peace)about one of my family and l am thankful to be able to pray in tounges. Later on my daughter told me she was driving and stopped at the lights and someone stood in front of the car and tried to get in. Fortunately, she was safe and able to drive away. This is what praying in tounges can do. Praying in tounges is like praying God's heart and l am thankful that l don't need to know all the details ( we walk by faith not by sight), just that l am willing and able to intercede by the leading of the Holy Spirit ( being a vessel for God's purpose). I have also prayed with other Christians and witnessed healing and deliverance. I have always been aware of my surroundings and people around me, never out of control and you don't need to yell when in prayer.
Keep walking sister in faith. I am so glad you have the leading of the Holy Spirit and are listening to Yeshua's prompting. The bible says He disciplines the ones He loves. Discipline sounds like a punishment but in light of how a parent discipline's a child, out of love and blessing ,for your good; so your life may be lived well. May your life be a living testimony of how good Yeshua is in your life. No season is ever wasted and in time may it be a testimony and point the way to others who seek truth and are struggling with what you have overcome through the love of Jesus 💕🌻🙏

Very hard to apply God's standard and way of life on people who are not Christian. In having a God perspective, Same sex couples won't see it necessary or have it apply to their own relationship in adopting a child. That being said the only way to procreate is through a man and a woman. There is also Godly order- Husband is paternal head of the family in Godly guidance, protection and leadership, wife as help mate, nurturer. These are distinct roles/ role models for children that same sex couples may emulate though not in the same way God intended.
I think my main issus here is that even if they don't get adopted by a homosexual couple, and stay in an orphanage, most like the kid will learn through school/society that homosexuality is okay anyway, so I'm not sure if it would make a real difference
I agree. If you are not learning from Jesus/ the word, the world will teach you its ways. People won't know any different.
I actually obsessively read the Bible as a kid, and made it through the whole thing, although there was a lot that didn't make sense to me, because I was a kid. I'd like to read it again and gain a richer understanding of it, based on the "intellectual knowledge" I've accrued over the years. engaging with a book without using knowledge is beyond me though--I guess I could try to eat it.

The temptation to commit adultery even though the physical act hasn't been followed through is still sinful as it is related to the heart.
