ARGH!

*Lowers face into palm*

  1. Yes, I’m aware you’ve made up a scenario in your head where they all suddenly change their votes based on absolutely no compelling evidence. Based on what we have, however, the more simple explanation is that the overwhelming majority of Republican lawmakers legitimately support Ukraine and are not doing this as a highly coordinated super-secret ploy for votes before they pull the rug out. This is conspiracy theory politics, plain and simple, and I’ve seen no reason I should buy a word of it.

  2. A laundry list of every time a Republican did something you didn’t like is not a good case for your theory. “They did X that I didn’t like, therefore they’re likely to do Y that I don’t like” is a fallacy. It’s not valid logic because X and Y are entirely different acts with wildly different probability and motivation.

  3. There's no evidence they are doing anything nefarious in the background. All the evidence of past times they have done exactly that has absolutely no relevance on future expectations...

  4. I see no "major offensive". The Ukrainians conduct some probing attacks in order to keep the pressure up on Russian forces but the more they slowly push them back towards Kherson the more they compact their defenses. That would make the Russian troops better artillery targets but as of yet the Ukrainians don't have fire superiority on this part of the front. Besides, would they really be willing to shell on of their own major cities?

  5. Getting them penned in to smaller areas sounds like a great appetizer for the arrival of more HIMARS in that region. Of course them regrouping into the city itself is less ideal, but with precision munitions you can still take out the dangerous equipment without much collateral damage. After all, there are only so many places in a city you can hide field guns big enough to slow a mechanized advance. Once those are flushed out, no doubt with the help of thousands of local collaborators, it should be much easier for their main forces to surround the city and prepare to liberate it one neighborhood at a time.

  6. For years I thought C'mon was pronounced like "see-mon". Figured it was some weird regional thing that kids up North said or something.

  7. I normally dont react on these kind of posts as often much context is missing or misleading but this time the cops are just being assholes. WTF is wrong with this COP dude. I wonder if he thinks he has done a good job when he gets home and look into the mirror. What a loser.

  8. I can see the cops side of it. All the way up until he says, "all right you're under arrest" and all hell breaks loose.

  9. RIP Bill Russell, but what always amazes me about every photo Muhammad Ali took with a fan is that it seems like he insists they pose as if they're landing a punch right on his jaw. Does it get more humble than that?

  10. Damn just a dozen or so degrees north and the Chinese would’ve gotten their shit back on them.

  11. Thankfully, successful space programs are highly dependent on margins of error much smaller than a dozen or so degrees of latitude.

  12. This just looks like a cross between a pug and a German Shepard.

  13. On the face of this, it kinda seems obvious. Don't run from the cops, you won't get hurt, right? As callous as that sounds, you cannot ignore it as one of the primary inputs to this crisis. I would like to see what percentage of police shootings are people who are standing in front of them unarmed, or at least unresisting? Because that is the alternative to running. I would guess you are 10x, maybe 100x, less likely to be killed by police if you don't run from them.

  14. It will be interesting to see if this gets brought up in any of the upcoming civil lawsuits, because we all sure know damn well there won’t be any criminal charges brought against these cowards.

  15. I think you are misguided about the kind of protections provided for law enforcement. They have absolutely no duty to assist people in need, and that goes all the way up to the supreme court.

  16. Hold up. So what will leave their police force with just the cops who didn't even show up when there was a school shooting? Great.

  17. He saves himself by just existing. There is no jury in America that doesn’t have one MAGA person who’ll refuse to convict

  18. Yes, but the MAGAts are MAGAts specifically because the right wing media completely controls every piece of information they receive. All coverage of Trump is flattering, and any coverage of his mistakes are brushed under the rug, or simply ignored altogether.

  19. That’s where you’re wrong about MAGAts. Many get accurate news about Trump. They simply ignore it or explain it away. They also think that no matter what Trump does, the Libs are worse. My mother said she would vote for Trump a 3rd time because he is “NOT trying to destroy this country.” How’s that for delusion? She knows what he did and thinks Biden is worse!

  20. I disagree. I think that exactly that mentality is what is drilled into them nonstop by their media safe space.

  21. Oh damn I know exactly where this is. Used to drive by there almost every day on my way to work. Don't live there anymore, but also not that surprised knowing a bunch of people who still live around there.

  22. Yes, it would have been 6 runs if she touched the boundary rope or the ground outside the boundary.

  23. Despite the amazing effort there seems to be at least a few frames where her foot is touching outside the boundary and her hand is already touching the ball.

  24. He is not my only son and this hygiene issue is not a normal part of growing up for teenage boys. Not wiping after pooping is a defense mechanism against sexual abuse with children and could also be a sign of depression. It is a way to try to make themselves so gross that the abuser will not want to touch them. Either way, it is not a "normal part of growing up" and he will not just "grow out of it."

  25. It is obvious that you are being deliberately obtuse. My son told what happened in the presence of a therapist and even the therapist is concerned he was abused based on the evidence.

  26. Like I said, sounds like you've already got this all figured out long before you posted here. Good luck, and I hope for the best for your son.

  27. As someone who had undiagnosed ADHD for all of my childhood, only being diagnosed later when I was an adult, I can say that I would go back and thank my parents for not investigating more or medicating me back then.

  28. I'll take a potentially contrarian position on this, based on my experiences.

  29. From another parent of a low BMI child, a couple of things to think of:

  30. I'm barely starting the journey myself, we haven't even sent a child off to Kindergarten yet, but I think I've learned a few things. I've also suffered a literal mental breakdown and had panic attacks partly caused by the stresses of parenting.

  31. If you said Rochambeau I would know what you're talking about, but I would call it Rock-Paper-Scissors.

  32. Yeah? If you regularly park on someone's (or your own) front yard, instead of the driveway or the street, you might be a redneck.

  33. Lolls. Pulling out old Jeff Foxworthy jokes from 25 years ago?? Well played indeed. If you can’t imagine a situation where someone might need to park in their own yard, you might be an idiot.

  34. Don't worry, if you had gotten there while it was open the line would have been very very long and you probably would have missed your flight.

  35. The older I get, and the more aware I get of how my brain works vs how other ppls brains work, the more I think this comes down to psychology and mental health.
