I’ve been here over 15 year and have no incidents. I took a defensive driving course years ago and it taught me to anticipate situations when driving and take precautions to avoid collisions by leaving plenty of space and not assuming what other drivers would/wouldn’t do, etc.

It’s an HOA with private roads that are often undriveable in snow or ice due to the HOA being responsible for plowing/sanding and the roads themselves being narrow, twisty, and steep. Half the houses rely on propane for heating and few are on sunny lots, resulting in mold issues. There are two roads into Bellingham and one that leads south, and while these roads are served by the county they are often undriveable in poor weather too. What else? There is a lot of political maneuvering in the HOA between people who want SV to be more resort-like and people who want it to be more affordable — keep an eye on your dues! There are almost no damn sidewalks so teach your kids to be careful walking outside. Make sure you see the house before you buy because some of those driveways are at a 45 degree incline, swear to god.

I’ve been there a couple times! Very fortunate to know a family that has a home there, they are loaded but not the asshole type. Anyway, it’s a pretty amazing experience, almost everything is “free” at least if your a guest. As someone who has skied much of the west’s major big mountains, the skiing is great too! Lots of good technical terrain off the ridge, multiple chutes, decent sized cliffs, steep glades, ect. Groomers have great pitch, length and stay grippy for a long time. Oh and no lines, and the mountain stays untracked for a long time.
