Are you in Florida? I’ve heard that state in particular is known for unsafe assignments. I worked with some travelers that said they’d never go back, as it was not uncommon to pair ECMO. In the PNW, which is Union-heavy, it was pretty much unheard of to pair these patients. Unless it was a very stable IABP, or CRRT. That only started happening with Covid.
Illinois
In December when I was in CVICU they paired their ECMO and Impellas. In the MICU there were CRRTs paired. This was usually due to lack of trained nurses on the devices/staffing. Not sure how they are doing it now though. But yes, definitely unsafe!!
Got ya. CRRT is pretty okay to pair imo if they’re stable. But this pt had all 3 and is paired with another ICU pt.
ER tech. Yesterday was just under 30k, and today was 24k. I’m always on my feet and going.

As a hawks fan. I’m so lit for this.
A nurse who has worked 1 single day in the ICU would know that you don't run pressors through an a-line. Not even the newest nurses in our unit has said something that stupid. This person must be green AF or this story is bull.
Was thinking the same thing.

For the republic!
It has to do with the anticoagulant in the tube. It has to be a 9:1 blood:sodium citrate ratio. That line on the tube is the minimum. But it can also be overfilled as well. It will make a difference with results
Thank you
