  1. These aren’t the only 2 dipshits. There are tons of these shitheads in all kinds of research fields. Probably recommended to the research centres by big pharma.

  2. Besides patients, big pharma was the biggest victim from this…

  3. That's an entirely different problem. It would move in a "straight" line, depending on the local metric.

  4. Agreed it’s a different problem but I think it’s more interesting. A straight line in which direction, and if moving at c from an outside frame, where would it go (assuming no other objects in the universe besides the two black holes)?

  5. Makes sense, so If it popped into existence right at the intersection of the two black hole’s photon spheres, there would be nothing special going on and it would go on its way whatever direction it’s pointing (accounting for curvature if it’s on a diagonal relative to the black holes)?

  6. MBS have credit enhancement and government guarantees, this price drop is due to rising treasury yields and longer average mortgage duration due to lack of prepayments in rising rate environments, not credit/default concerns.

  7. These servers are owned by sanctioned individuals and therefore this is not an act of selective censorship.

  8. And how does one become a sanctioned individual? Does it arise out of some random, natural process?

  9. The point is that the servers were confiscated because of who was using them not what they were being used for.

  10. This is kinda weird cuz almost everyone with this type of $ would be well aware of SPX options with favorable tax treatment.

  11. Really stressed about this situation, and it’s not even about the market but rather Putin doing something crazy.

  12. For people that don’t know, the tweet is from a former US ambassador to russia and one of America’s top Russia experts.

  13. I know I’m stupid. What does this mean ?

  14. If you own RSX you now have nuclear diamond hands. Can’t get out if you tried.

  15. Former US ambassador to Russia and highly respected Russia expert.

  16. Now for a very controversial take:

  17. The rules don't apply to super powers with nukes. Russia has a permanent seat on the UN security council. The UN is useless.

  18. I know it’s frustrating but the less diplomatic linkages between enemy nations the worse off we all are.

  19. What's the latest on those possible negotiations in Minsk?

  20. Ukraine rejected the location and proposed Warsaw, which Russia rejected

  21. Their AA has a 200+ mile range. They could’ve shot it from Belarus in theory.

  22. Not exactly, all organisms will follow darwin law of evolution. Viruses with large chance to perpetuate will be the ones that spread fast and reach more people before killing them. This means that more lethal viruses will kill fast and spread less.

  23. Your comment is basically repeating what OP said except the last sentence, which is a bit presumptive. HIV was mentioned by OP and is one of the most successful viruses in history, and nearly 100% lethal.

  24. Lol - bears seeing this price action should be unloading their bags immediately, no way this isn’t early knowledge of the Fed meeting

  25. The US taxpayer made billions from the bank bailout. Stop this lazy talking point.

  26. So the question is, what happens to Jim and Tom's positions if you get margin called but Susan refuses to sell her shares?

  27. OP’s margin gets called, if not sufficient his broker’s margin gets called, if not enough the common fund at NSCC gets drawn.

  28. Basically it’s almost impossible for Jim and Tom to lose anything.

  29. This is one of the biggest loopholes in the current campaign finance laws. Here’s how it works:

  30. Agree with all this but one nitpick is dividends are taxes as regular income, only capital gains (selling and asset at a higher price than you bought it) is taxed at 15% if you held for more than 1 year.

  31. Wall Street likes her because she's dovish, she supports free trade and globalization, and cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

  32. Wall Street doesn’t give a shit about cuts to social security and Medicare, that’s just a talking point to make her sound evil.

  33. Still just a talking point? Biden just appointed Neera Tanden...

  34. I work on Wall Street too and nobody calls it high frequency trading but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt since that’s what ppl would call it to outsiders I guess.

  35. you can make the same argument for the flu, or colds, or any other transmittable illness. I am sure you were concerned about passing on your flu to others prior to this covid situation. probably not though. It was common practice for people to go to work with the flu or colds. No one cared about who they passed it on too.

  36. Lmk when the last time a flu killed 400k Americans in 12 months...

  37. even if it saves 1 life...right? At what number does your selective concern start? Flu can kill up to 50,000 americans a year. That is a ton of people.

  38. I can throw that question right back, when will you start to care about mitigating an infectious disease, 1 million, 10 million dead?

  39. That’s why they’re pushing so hard calling Biden president already. So it creates even more civil unease, it’s all a move to make the libs start burning down our cities again once Trump gets the second term.

  40. Why did the same media call Trumps win in 2016 the night of, with a Hillary concession the next day and transition 3 days later?

  41. I don't necessarily disagree with your point, but this is a terrible example. Doctors and surgeons wear a mask to keep things sterile while they are operating, not because they don't want to spread a virus.

  42. I wonder how a surgical mask, separating the doctor’s bacteria filled mouth from the clean operating room keeps things sterile...

  43. NPR asked a bunch of scientists to come up with the optimal resource for a currency, and they all came back and said gold. It is scarce enough to hold a value, it cant be synthesized (without using a particle collider anyway), is stable over long periods of time/doesnt self degrade, is one of the least reactive elements so it doesnt corrode, is resistant to most acids, and has properties that make it useful.

  44. Then someone finds a large undiscovered deposit of gold in Africa and the global economy crashes!

  45. You’re likely right. They just had him on again and George asked the odds of Trump winning were 1-2%. And Silver is like uhhhh maybe 1/20,000.
