  1. I used to be a banker. Start with secured credit. Its your own cash on the line. And usually once you've done well for a while the bank will release the collateral back to you and almost anyone can get approved for a line

  2. Yeah. My mom mentioned that my dad had an insane AmEx credit limit in 1982, and he had just graduated college and enlisted in the military. No work or credit history, just applied for a credit card and they gave him enough to charge a mustang and a Vespa with plenty of money left over. Lol.

  3. The UCMJ would have required him to pay everything off, think about that every time you see a young soldier in a Camaro with a stupid interest rate.

  4. A few years ago the city of miami eliminated red light camera tickets because they were primarily ticketing poor people who couldn’t afford to pay the fine. They would then often get the license suspended, fail to appear in court (because they can’t take time off of work or get to the court building) and end with a warrant for their arrest. It was deemed that red light camera tickets ended up costing the city exponentially more than they earned in revenue. So…

  5. Seems West Virginia taxes that your car exists, like a house… wtf

  6. Given that he just got another step removed from the bribery dance they do in Washington…

  7. The drug war, the IRS, pretty much all of the alphabet agencies, pretty much all of the DoD budget, and it might put slavery back on the table… yeah nothing wrong with a bit of activist judges and a complete ignoring of precedent. /s

  8. During Desert Storm, you were less likely to be shot participating in the invasion than staying at home.

  9. In the US at least, nothing has been won by peaceful protest such that it was enshrined in law. Everything from ending slavery, prohibition, workers rights, human rights, etc, has been obtained through aggressive protest and heavily disrupting the system with violent targeted action. They didnt tell us that in school though, they told is sitdown/convenient/non-disruptive protesting was the only way. So now we have millennials and gen x'ers that dont know how to fight, and a very fed up generation in zoomers that are re-learning how to take the power back.

  10. We do know how to fight, the problem was there was never enough of us to do anything other than slow the boomers down. Figure’s people would continue to forget GenX has done anything.

  11. Gen X historically votes almost identically to boomers actually. Its not that we forgot you guys, its just that youre basically the same.

  12. Well I’m not, and just been grossly outnumbered

  13. I got banned from their snowflake sanctuary for “you guys”, because of the implication.

  14. i like 80s aesthetic. too bad most cars of that era are as aerodynamic as a brick

  15. Given the aero of the Ionic 5, I’m betting something like this is possible

  16. As long as JMS is involved and running things, I think it will be fine. It's when they bring in someone like JJ Abrams to "reboot" the franchise that I would worry. That guy wrecked and destroyed TWO classic Sci-Fi franchises.

  17. JMS tried to get a movie done, had funding lined up and all, then had a treatment for the CW reboot, also failed. Both times someone or something at Warner Brothers has interfered as they still own the broadcast rights and refuse to share.

  18. Can’t imagine why they might have been lobbying so hard against it then

  19. Did you just use the barbary war definition of high seas piracy to argue about the colloquial piracy where someone downloads data from the internet?

  20. Now I’m a bit sad I missed the lunacy.

  21. He just kept saying that theft = theft and then copy pasted the definition of piracy, probably without reading it, that mentioned violent acts of plunder.

  22. Bummer I was hoping for something more elaborate

  23. Well here’s hoping that complete lack of paper trail doesn’t get in the way.

  24. Costco, use their tire fill points, they use nitrogen only.

  25. This is what they point to as the black portion of the US population that commits crimes… but then try to show how there are blacks displacing the white population. Classic weak/strong argument

  26. So you're assuming the crime-committing black people are the total black population? I'm still confused.

  27. That’s point of the propaganda

  28. So we can sue Reddit in Texas if we get banned from

  29. Got banned from there for “you guys” while agreeing with them, because of the implication…

  30. In my firearms training, my instructor (a Black former Army sergeant, btw) said the most important thing to do in a dicey situation like that is to GTFO and get away if you possibly can. I have no intention of being a hero if I have any other option.

  31. The Mr Miyagi school of defense, don’t fucking be there.

  32. Yup. The company I work for sold and installed 1500 home standby generators after that first winter freakout/infrastructure failure a little while back. Anyone in the solar or backup power business loves Texas lately lol.

  33. I drive Uber in Los Angeles and ever time I have someone from Texas in the car I suggest they get their house prepped to stand alone at least a week, mainly because the state government has decided it’s ok to let you watch your kids freeze to death while gouging you on energy prices.

  34. Nope, just a 100 year old, foreclosure. Gonna need work but the bones are good

  35. My boss was hypoglycemic. He was telling me back in his military days he was in a group meeting and he snapped at someone. Commander stopped the meeting, told someone to fetch a banana, then ordered him to eat it.

  36. Sign of a good commander, knows their soldiers and how to address possible conflicts

  37. It’s like the damn speak and spell all over again.

  38. Speaking as a fellow military person, writing them up probably won't change the immediate behavior unless they were the type to actually listen to reason (which they don't sound the type). But what it will do is create a paper trail. And if this behavior continues and someone else bothers to look into it, suddenly there's a history that future commands can look back on and recognize that this latest incident is not an isolated thing. They'll see that it's a continuation of an existing pattern, and that is FAR more reason for concern later down the line. Starting a paper trail makes it exponentially more likely that the behavior will be further documented if it continues in the future.

  39. It actually started, for me, while I was still serving. I was in a unit that provided funeral details. I.e. fire twenty-one blanks, sound "taps", give the next of kin a folded flag, that whole thing. We were a combat unit, this was just a collateral duty, give up a dozen guys five times a week for funerals. Anyway, after we did our graveside ceremony and the formation was dismissed, we'd have ten minutes or so to just hang out while the detail commander talked to the next of kin. A lot of the time, some of the deceased guy's buddies or brothers would come over and chat us up. We'd talk about how things were back then versus how they are now, laugh about how it's sixty years later and somehow the food still sucks and it's always raining during a field exercise, how it's unfair that some guys do everything right and end up buried in a far-away land while some other dumbasses get lucky a hundred times and live to come home and make a family, that sort of thing. It was good for them but honestly it was good for us too- this was when the insurgency was hot in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we'd buried some of our own brothers.

  40. I try to encourage the vets I know to find fellow vets they can talk to, mainly because we have to get it out, and a lot of have seen things no one else would really understand.

  41. Reddit mods: had one of more of the compare “cunt” in reference to a woman to, f*g for a gay man and n***** for a black person.

  42. If someone is, in fact, a Nazi, that is a very compelling reason to kill them.

  43. Certainly doesn’t mean to strap a child to their dead mother with a mine between them…
