that sub is the worst. they all simp for corporate landlords. nobody in that sub is a revolutionary. not a single denizen understands that the landlords will always throttle supply to keep rent income high. yet they post day after day about how we need to convince big rental companies to build more high rises.
degrowth. which i note is conspicuously left off that list despite being older and more widely known that anything on that list, except maybe nativism.
No eye opening experience, it's just a buildup of observations from walking combined with reading about the carnage. I did manage to get others to notice, but more with ear-opening, not eye-opening.
I witnessed a similar situation two days ago. Stopped into our local dollar store for some milk. Line to cashiers was growing and one lady told another that it was time for her to clock out.
That's the "master fantasy". The people who work in this service sector are role-playing servants. The Karens are the "masters", that's the fantasy they pay for. Managers call it "the experience" because it's like a ride. The customers are essentially LARP-ing as lords/ladies.

That's exactly how I see it. It's a damned arms race.
For context, Courtenay Place is in downtown Wellington and known for being full of pubs, clubs, etc.
I understand what you mean, but some businesses are indeed incompatible with a car-free city. For example: car washes.
It's not the whole city, it's one street, and it's certainly not a street with any car-washes on it.
I know, but think bigger, think about an entire city being car free.
Have you noticed the new adds for the vaccines. It sounds like they are selling bubblegum cards or somthing.
No, why would I watch TV? That's like eating from a gas station bathroom floor.

a deadly blanket of car farts
Sounds terrifying but a fatality rate of 50% might prevent it from ever becoming a pandemic. At that level it probably burns itself out very quickly.
The "Spanish" Flu pandemic was an avian influenza.
This is what harvests look like. Without the cops.

I'm the opposite. I love humid heat. Dry heat feels like my skin's falling off.
