  1. Really would have been nice to shut down the fools chanting U-S-A and telling the Jays to go back to Canada.

  2. The cool thing about crossing over into your 40s is that you completely lose the ability to give a fuck about things like that.

  3. When you get to be 50 you not only don't give a fuck you don't even know what you're supposed to give fucks for anymore

  4. Sometimes your team falls behind and you keep watching because you think "maybe"

  5. So I have a friend who is a paramedic, he decided he wanted to be a nurse. 25 years old, extremely competent, real world life skills, assessment skills, technical skills.

  6. Whenever someone blasphemes I say a hail Mary. Once I watched a episode of stranger things and said 12 hail Mary's

  7. Repentance isn't an on/off switch. Continuing to pray helps you continue to grow more and more repentant. Also remember that one of the words we often translate into English as "repent" is the Greek word metanoia. That word doesn't just have the meaning of "feeling sorry for your actions" that we think of when we think of repentance in English. It has a deeper meaning that includes turning around from the path you're on. That turning your life around is a complex and many-faceted thing. Growing in repentance isn't just about feeling more sorry, but about becoming more committed to turning your life around and going down the path of following God's will.

  8. On the one hand, people are telling me that I can instantly be restored to a state of grace through perfect contrition. On the other hand, I'm being told that ~true~ repentance can be elusive even given a lifetime of seeking it.

  9. Don't get too far down into the weeds. St. Joan of arc was asked if she was in a state of grace. It was a dirty trick of a question intended to trap her but of course she was too wise to fall for it, saying:

  10. I wouldn’t exactly make this 1-1 with the comics of the 90s. There were several factors that lead to Marvel going bankrupt in the 90s. A lot of their big hitter artists left for Image comics so books dipped in quality. The speculation bubble that was driving massive sales in the 80s and early 90s had finally popped, so collectors stopped buying all of the new #1s and special edition variant covers. Finally, there two biggest franchises were in a slump: X-Men lost direction after Chris Claremont moved on and it only got worse with Jim Lee leaving for Image, and Spider-Man spent the better part of the 90s in one of the worst story arcs in history…the Clone Saga.

  11. 29 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures(T) or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage;(U) they will be like the angels in heaven. 31 But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’[b]?(V) He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

  12. Can anyone summarize what happened I can't stand listening to Alex Jones even when he's not coughing up his spleen

  13. He said he has no text messages about Sandy Hook but it turned out his lawyers accidentally sent the opposing lawyer an exact copy of his phone so they were able to prove he's lying.

  14. Disney Star Wars: the more under the radar the production, the better it becomes.

  15. That explains part of it but this looks like they spent about 10 times what they did on Boba Fett

  16. Never underestimate a bad showrunner's ability to squander a multi-million dollar budget. (reportedly, TBOBF and Obi-wan had around the same budget as this show)

  17. That’s unfortunate to hear. A few weeks ago, my grandma fell in her apartment. As it turned out… she broker her femur. She first called 911 at 11pm and was told by dispatch that an ambulance was on the way. She hardly got to the door and was able to unlock it for the paramedics she thought were coming. After that, she was unable to get back to the phone. She was on the floor all night till 9am until her neighbour found her on the floor. It took 3 more 911 calls that morning to get her help. She couldn’t be moved at all as she was in so much pain and was completely seized up. They finally showed up at 10am. My 86 year old grandma was on the floor for 11 hours waiting for help. Paramedics were fantastic and advised myself to share the story to who ever would listen.

  18. They talk about the health care system failing when in fact it's already failed.

  19. We are witnessing the beginning of this team disintegrating. The pitching has peaked and the hitting is much too feast- or-famine.

  20. Religions rise and fall with the societies and cultures into which they are woven. For 3000-4000 years the Ancient Egyptians society ruled the world - as did their gods Anubis, Ra, etc. Where are Anubis and Ra now? Then it was the Roman empire and their gods - Zeus, Apollo, etc. Where are they now? Christianity only became a dominant world religion because the European countries that adopted it "exported" it via war and imperialism. For the life of me I don't understand why African Americans are Christians - knowing that the religion was forced on their African ancestors who were kidnapped and enslaved. Weird.

  21. You gonna whitesplain to those silly Africans why they shouldn't be Christians?

  22. Those last episodes were SO damned good. The music made it special - wow.

  23. The last four episodes of CW might very well be the best star wars there is.

  24. CW is a mixed bag in terms of quality, but the final episodes were damn good. And I'd argue that this is the best looking light saber fight in the entire franchise- it's fast paced, looks good, doesn't rely on the combatants intentionally missing each other, and just "feels" real.

  25. The last four episodes of Clone Wars might be the best Star Wars of all. I'm not kidding it's up there with the Empire strikes back and Rogue One.

  26. Stripling vs Hutchison? I like our odds.

  27. When I was a protestant I remember hearing a sermon about how God was holding me over hell and essentially waiting for me to screw up. Also we can't do anything to condemn or save ourselves.
