I was like this as a child and then flipped the other way around grade 12. Once I lost those friends with no explanation that was it, it’s really hard to let anyone in. I haven’t had a friend longer than about eight months since then. But I realize now that part of the problem in high school was that I was possessive over one friend even though we didn’t make good friends, she was mean to me and I had no clue. But it is always really hard to get over people. I can feel the attachment starting and I have to bolt, it gets too hard to let people in/out.

Yep. Having a 'favourite person' isn't uncommon.
I do too but I don’t think it’s a spectrum thing. Look up attachment styles it might be helpful to you.
