i havent looked much into watergate, what is this mystical tape that played the president

Essentially a Watergate security guard found a door suspiciously taped open. So he swiftly contacted the authorities who’ll uncover the scandal

I actually thought this was referring to the White House tapes at first. TL;DR Nixon installed tape recorders in the Oval Office to keep track of his own convos. Unfortunately some of them were about telling the CIA to cover up Watergate.
