New to revolvers, but not great at keeping them steady

  1. Don't stress it. Revolvers require significantly more practice to become proficient with than autoloaders. Take your time to get back on target. Watch your breathing - inhale, exhale, hold, fire. Consider a fingerless glove if grips get slippery.

  2. I ended up replacing the grip on my Bodyguard and still ended up with Goon tape. I'm thinking the looooong trigger squeeze may be part of the reason you feel unsteady. Try prepping the trigger for a shorter squeeze. You can work on that dry firing.

  3. Leave one or two chambers loaded with empty brass and the rest with live rounds. When you fire you won't know which are empty and you will get a really clear idea of when you are flinching.

  4. There’s no such thing as the wrong grip for your hand unless your hands are alien hands. I’d bring the target in closer. Until you get good groups. Then slowly work it out furtherYour grip will be similar fundamentals as a 9mm (thumbs on one side, although some old timers cross over their dominate thumb, that’s ok on revolvers ONLY and probably not the best practice IMO) focus on even grip with both hands, letting the recoil do it’s thing after the shot and not trying to muscle it down or anticipate. As said snap caps work great for this. Also moving the trigger without gripping harder. Try to move the trigger separate from your grip if that makes sense, also look into dry fire practice

  5. Unfortunately, I can't move the target closer. All targets are placed 25 metres (82 feet) away, so there's no way I can change that.

  6. This was my best of the day. Most of my shots were between 6 and 2, so there's a lot of improvement needed.
