IV Question

  1. I used to get them through my school’s health center for free (included in our fee) and they were prescribed by my ME specialist and a doctor at our health center was just nice and honored it for me.

  2. I went to a sports medicine clinic where nurse practitioners gave me the Meyers cocktail. It has been super helpful and I’m going to do it again. The hydration and nutrients feel amazing once it’s all soaked in.

  3. I have POTS & orthostatic hypotension. I’m not sure what it’s like in other countries but in Canada you can’t just go to the hospital and get an IV so for 5 years I got saline IV and sometimes myers cocktails every 2 weeks or more at a naturopath. It was very expensive and time consuming and ridiculous to pay $100+ for salt water which is why it’s best to just increase your salt intake, use electrolyte drinks, compression garments and medications.

  4. My neurologist. Everyday or every other day. I have a PICC line so that I can do this. I did not have to convince my doctor, but it did take me sometime to find a doctor who would do it. I had a doctor previously who was allowing twice a week transfusions in a center, but that was just not doable long term. I did it for a little over a year and then they changed COVID rules in 2021 and I couldn't get my infusions anymore. So I found another doctor who would place a central line. I started home infusion therapy in late January/early February of 2021. Can't remember the exact date.
