  1. Lol, essentially. That's one of my favorite aspects of the movie, how well it builds up the mystery of the threat, giving a little at a time until the full Graboid finnaly bursts out of the ground. And the payoff puts all those context clues from the 1st Act into context, demonstrating its smart & creative writing. It's one of the best creature reveals since the shark jump-scared Brody in Jaws.
