Report: NFL owners are "counting votes" toward a possible ouster of Daniel Snyder - ProFootballTalk

  1. The angle I don't see covered a lot is that he didn't just defraud the other 31 owners, but also the players. If these are shared revenues, then they affect the amount of cap each team is allocated. Even though it would probably be a small amount when all split up, this has to be some sort of serious problem with the CBA and the players would have some grounds for complaints if the league did nothing to fix it.

  2. Yeah, but Lions fans will pack it out if the team starts to look decent. That lull is temporary while they are terrible....I mean sure it's been a while now but...uh...

  3. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if suddenly there’s a new report or leak about Snyder and impropriety that’s juuust enough of a cover to force him out for mora reasons instead of the obvious financial.

  4. You can be a racist, you can sexually assault cheerleaders, we can work past all that. But you do NOT steal from your fellow billionaires!

  5. the stat worth comparing is % of tickets sold. Ofc bigger stadiums / bigger markets will have more fans in total. Total tickets doesn’t account for those factors. So they’re the worst by far

  6. They’re also going to say that he was ousted for the sexual harassment scandal to make themselves look good. But we all know it’s because of the financial shit

  7. To be fair I think it is a lot less personally risky to speak out when it’s a breach of contract then calling someone out on their behavior

  8. When you're that rich and powerful you can do pretty much anything you want. Except steal from the rich and powerful. Cooked books are going to be his downfall.

  9. This has been in the works for a few years now. NFL has been accumulating “evidence” for years now to be able to legally oust Snyder. Bezos will be the next owner of the WFT (I just can’t bring myself to call them the Commanders it’s so corny)

  10. I’ve said it before on our sub: I’m treating all of this news like a long, improbable playoff run. I never actually think they’re going to clear the next hurdle, but if they do, I’m happy.

  11. I'm a Giants fan, and in general I think Snyder makes your team worse (and thus is good for the Giants chances of winning). But I want him gone for you guys. Had family that rooted for Washington as well, often visited them in Fairfax county. Best of luck to your once-proud franchise.

  12. Yeah, this reads still as pretty early in the process. As in, going around checking if the others want him gone too, rather than it being an official proceeding/vote

  13. I mean if they don't get rid of him at this point it's a very dark implication about the shit the rest of the owners are tied up in.

  14. I am/was under the same logic. The other owners must have some big skeletons in their closets if they wouldnt oust Snyder after all the shit that has come out against him. I was encouraged seeing this headline. My frost thought was how maybe the owners weren't as bad and did see the abuses being caused.

  15. Exactly, hope this leads to a swift re-rebrand if true. Commanders is wet dogshit.

  16. It’s 100% Gonna be Bezos buying them. For the record. Not making excuses for the way this team was run. At all. But this entire time. It’s smelt like it’s been leading towards ol Amazon Jeff owning them.

  17. I mean, it's the Washington Post that's been on him the entire time, and it was Amazon that first refused to sell Redskins merchandise, forcing him to eat the name change and the ensuing revenue loss..

  18. For Washington fans, I sure hope that goes through. I don't see a bright future for them until he's gone

  19. FINALLY! But let’s be honest they protected him as long as they could…and then they found out he was taking money from visiting teams revenue streams and all bets were off!

  20. It’s way past too late to save face. That he hasn’t been exiled yet makes every other owner in the NFL look like absolute clowns.

  21. At this point we've been teased by so many "Snyder out" hypotheticals that I've gotten used to it. Until he packs his bags and is actually gone I'm done with this media hype machine.

  22. And even if they do vote him out, he might be able to tie it up in the courts for a long, long time rendering it moot anyway.

  23. Please God please God please God please God please Please God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God please Please God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God please Please God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God please Please God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God please Please God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God please Please God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God please Please God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God pleasePlease God please God please God please God please

  24. Remember when Richardson had to sell the Panthers for doing like a quarter of what Snyder has been tied to in the last couple years? What happened to that standard?

  25. Richardson was an old man and decided it was in his (and his family’s) best interest to take the $2 billion parachute out of the situation rather than have all his dirty laundry aired. Snyder is younger, less worried about public image, and thinks his indiscretions aren’t as bad.

  26. Whoa, do they know if that monster gets ousted, people might actually become a fan of Washington, or worse for the league, the manders might compete. Kick him out, and watch that team wreck the cowboys for years to come.

  27. I don't get it? This man has highly mismanaged his team to such a point that one of the biggest markets has the lowest attendance and he now has all of this controversy around him.

  28. The other owners are afraid of what will come out of their closets if they were to proceed with this. Dan is petty enough to make it dirty for all involved.

  29. Because they’re also protecting themselves. Voting an owner out sets a bad precedent that could lead to them being forced to sell if their skeletons fall out of the closet.

  30. I’m sure they all want him gone but they know once they vote him out it will open the floodgates so to say, and I bet nearly all these owners have skeletons in their closets.

  31. So for Green Bay, do they call up Mark Murphy or do they saddle up to the stock holders at the bar and just get a feel for how they’d vote?

  32. I'm guessing he stays because the other teams wouldnt want a precedent where they can be kicked put.

  33. Yeah you nailed it, guaranteed these guys don't care about synder but are more concerned of setting precedent for their asset rights that could potentially come back to haunt them.

  34. Probably not but if ever there was something that would drive the other owners to kick someone out of the club it would be stealing money from them.

  35. Yeah, until there's talk about a vote with certainty, this is a non-story. I'm not trying to be cynical, but we've had this happen time and time again with Snyder - there's no point in getting hopes up unless something concrete manifests itself.

  36. Most of the time I'm against someone having something forcibly taken from them. But Snyder is a douche.

  37. so as an nfl owner , I could "legally" abduct my cheerleaders, take their passports, force them to schmooze old pathetic friends of mine, circulate nude photos of them.

  38. What owners would vote to keep him? Other than if they themselves don't want to set a precedent of removing owners because they're afraid they will get voted out

  39. Fans from Eagles, Cowboys, Giants desperately do not want this man to be replaced. The next guy might actually be competent owner.

  40. I have a bed with my friend over who will win the Super Bowl first. Washington or the Raiders. This bet is 15 years old roughly. Keep Snyder where he is please.

  41. I really do think that Snyder getting removed would be the most significant sports moment in my life. I sobbed like a baby holding my dad’s ashes when the caps won since it was the first time our city did anything notable after his passing, but Snyder getting kicked out is different. I had been hearing “I hate Dan Snyder” since I was a child. I would lose my mind.

  42. Nice to see that money is the only thing that matters. Not maintaining your stadium, pretty much making your cheerleaders prostitutes, and sexual harassment? That's fine, but god forbid you fuck with their money.

  43. Ridiculous. He’s an incredible owner who is getting railroaded. I think he should remain the owner for a few more decades at least

  44. I had enough of Snyder years ago. Every week something new. Switched a ravens fan. I don’t know if I could ever switch back with how much damage he’s done. I’m from MD as well fyi

  45. Fact is, the NFL wants him gone for various reasons. Some public, some not. Most are likely reasons they aren’t saying like personal beefs with other owners. They were going to find misconduct no matter what the investigation actually revealed. Is he a good guy? Probably not. But I’d wager half the NFL owners are no better or worse. They just play ball.

  46. I feel like we get a new story every other week about how the league is "finally done with snyder" and yet somehow nothing ever happens

  47. Dan Snyder on the streets with whatever knowledge he knows about the NFL. Ladies and gentlemen, this could get interesting.

  48. Not saying the nfl owners are great people but at one point I’m like, why the fuck are they dealing with all this bullshit
