how valuable is a finance degree in SCM field?

  1. I think it is more important if you are in a smaller business and they need help understanding how Free cash flow and COGS work / doing a dirty dive into amortization and deprecation when purchasing machines. Looking at margins with currency changes. Lots of benefits to have a strong mathematical and analytical base for SCM. Even purchasing buildings falls into the category.

  2. I’ve heard that people in SCM come from varying backgrounds and that a SCM degree isn’t necessarily the best option, so I was just curious how a finance degree holds up Vs an actual SCM degree

  3. I come from a finance background and it has vastly helped my career. Business leaders care about $$ and if you cant read a P&L and communicate how a decision could impact rev/cost/working capital etc, youll never make it into a senior role
