Eurostar says trains will not stop in Kent for ‘two to three years’ as it blames Brexit - Eurostar dashes hopes of a gradual return to services following 'toughened' border restrictions

  1. Snapshot of Eurostar says trains will not stop in Kent for ‘two to three years’ as it blames Brexit - Eurostar dashes hopes of a gradual return to services following 'toughened' border restrictions :

  2. urostar trains will not stop in Kent for up to three years, the operator said as it blamed the decision on Brexit and its post-pandemic recovery.

  3. Once Ebbsfleet opened the number of trains stopping at Ashford dropped significantly if I recall correctly. Maybe a couple per day.

  4. Eurostar was always going to suffer, whilst an excellent example of engineering, it was more so built on the political will of being in the EU. It is almost symbolic of everything that Britain now isnt.

  5. I used it the other week and it was great even with the extra hassle of border issues. London to the center of Brussels in 2 hours

  6. This was frustrating when I came back to the UK via Eurostar and watched my gps whizz past my place in Canterbury. Glad I'm leaving Kent, getting around was frustratingly difficult with regular jams and more trucks than cars on the motorways.

  7. >The lack of international service has left Ashford’s station almost completely empty for more than two years, since the pandemic struck.

  8. actions meet consequences. hold on though, didn't brexiters say that anything was worth the price of getting rid of immigrants?

  9. Presumably if they couldn’t afford to turn away paying passengers they’d be stopping at every station they possibly could, so they must be doing alright as is.

  10. This is nonsense from Eurostar. They have huge demand but would rather operate a single station than three in the UK and force customers to travel backwards up the line at their own cost.

  11. Nothing to do with covid policy banning travellers for two years then 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
